A totally bespoke picture framing service in Cardiff
When you come to me for picture framing you’ll find high quality work, a personalised service – and something a little bit different. I’m the only framer offering fully bespoke picture framing in Cardiff. I use quality hardwoods (no pre-finished mouldings) and all my frame finishes can be fully customised – so you can have the exact finish you want.
As well as standard bespoke framing I also undertake more specialist commissions, such as float mounting, traditional wooden spline and dowel fixing, and designing my own mouldings.
In recent years I’ve been asked to create a frame that looked like rusted metal, one that had the appearance of slate and another that looked like a spaceship portal! I’ve also created box frames for objects.

About me
I learned (and fell in love with) the art of picture framing back in the early 2000’s, when I trained with Manor House Fine Arts in Pontcanna. After pursuing a career in law I returned to picture framing in June 2014, when I set up in business as Free Range Frames. Following four happy years at the Bone Yard in Canton I moved to my current premises in Market House, Canton in June 2019 and rebranded as Katharine Richards Framing.
